LUX has successfully implemented a major fork at block 1612500. This fork brings with it the implementation of the new RX2 mining algorithm. RX2 should better balance mining to reward our long-term LUX miners and ensure the most fair distribution of mining rewards. This change benefits the entire LUX community as the new algorithm further secures the blockchain, helps safeguard LUX against price manipulation, and keeps LUX at the forefront of the crypto mining community.
It also is a big milestone for the Luxcore team and with this implementation, we can finally refocus our attention to our core products. We will be sharing more about what we are working on in the coming weeks, so stay tuned!
What You Need to Know
QT Wallet Users
We have released a new mandatory wallet update. You can download it here: https://github.com/LUX-Core/lux/releases/tag/v5.5
Aside from updating your wallet, there are no additional steps normal users have to take. Coins you had before the fork are still there after the fork. If you did not update your wallet before the fork date, you will not lose any coins you had before, but you may miss out on staking rewards and not be able to send/receive coins until you update your wallet.
Technical Support For QT Wallets
If your wallet is stuck or you are having other issues related to the fork:
- Make sure to download the latest wallet from the link above.
(Note, the Windows link was updated to fix a bug that could cause wallets to get stuck) - Download the bootstrap files from http://luxcore.io/files/LUXblockChain.zip

Mobile/Web Wallet Users
If you are using the Luxcore PoS Web Wallet you do not have to do anything. Luxcore has already updated the web wallet.
Masternode Owners
Masternode owners will need to upgrade to the latest wallet and re-start their masternodes to ensure their nodes stay on the network. Luxcore has posted a one-liner in the #masternodes Discord channel for easy upgrading.
Miners

Mining Pools / Exchanges
Pools and exchanges need to upgrade their wallets. Many have done so or are in the process of doing that now. You can expect some temporary wallet maintenance at these services. Luxcore has reached out to the appropriate contacts, but if you are a pool operator feel free to reach out with any questions/concerns.
