SuperRare to Host Err Hold Auction on January 22nd

The artwork “Err Hold” by Botto, a key piece in the artist’s Genesis collection, will be auctioned on SuperRare on January 22nd at 21:00 UTC, with a reserve price set at 75 ETH.

The decision to auction the work follows extensive debate within BottoDAO. Initially, a proposal to sell the piece privately for 70 ETH was rejected, and a subsequent direct offer of 75 ETH further fueled discussions about whether the piece should go to auction. A recent DAO vote approved the auction proposal, marking a pivotal moment for this historically significant AI-generated artwork.

Minted in April 2022 during Botto’s Genesis Period, “Err Hold” has grown in prominence despite initially failing to meet its reserve price of 10 ETH. Since then, it has been featured in exhibitions at Singapore’s ArtScience Museum, on the TED stage, and during Swiss Art Basel, solidifying its status in the AI art world.
