What is Gifto?
Gifto is a decentralized network protocol built on the Ethereum blockchain, created by Andy Tian, co-founder and CEO of Asia Innovations Group (AIG). Launched in December 2017, Gifto addresses the inefficiencies of the traditional content monetization model by introducing a blockchain-based virtual gifting protocol. It enhances the relationship between content creators and their audience, enabling acknowledgment and direct rewards for creators. Gifto was initially tested alongside Uplive, a live-streaming app with over 20 million users.
The Gifto protocol operates as a universal gifting mechanism that allows content creators to receive blockchain-based virtual gifts from their audiences. These gifts are minted as digital assets on the Ethereum blockchain, ensuring transparency and decentralization. This system monetizes decentralized content effectively, eliminating the need for traditional intermediaries, and creating a seamless creator-audience interaction. The protocol leverages its live application through platforms like Uplive, demonstrating scalability and real-world utility.
The GFT token powers the Gifto ecosystem, serving as the currency for purchasing and exchanging virtual gifts within the network. It incentivizes content creators and supports the protocol’s monetization model.
