What is Interlay?
Interlay is a blockchain-based project that aims to create decentralized cross-chain bridges. The project was created to address the challenge of interoperability between different blockchains, which is a key issue in the modern cryptocurrency industry.
The main product under active development by Interlay is InterBTC. InterBTC is a decentralized bridge that allows individuals to connect their BTC with various blockchains without the need to trust a centralized intermediary. This bridge enables users to utilize BTC in decentralized finance (DeFi), gaming, NFTs, and many other blockchain applications without any limitations and without compromising decentralization.
INTR is interBTC’s governance token, distributed across network participants and used to elect council members and vote on proposals. The INTR token’s main purposes are: governance, INTR holders vote on governance proposals; staking, to participate in governance, holders stake INTR and earn INTR staking rewards in return; utility, Interlay supports transaction fee payments in INTR.
