The protocol serves as an ecosystem for the exchange of data and related services. It provides tokenization of data assets on the blockchain using Ethereum smart contracts, thus creating a global data marketplace. Ocean Protocol has developed a suite of technologies that allow users to publish, discover, and use data.
The OCEAN token is used within the Ocean Protocol ecosystem for the purchase and sale of data. It’s also used for the governance of the platform: token holders can vote on future updates and changes to the protocol.
