What is Waves?
Waves (WAVES) is a cryptocurrency project that provides a platform for users to create and launch their own custom tokens. Launched in 2016 by Alexander Ivanov, the Waves platform offers tools for the creation, issuance, management, and trading of these tokens, enabling users to launch their own cryptocurrencies without the need for extensive blockchain coding knowledge.
The platform operates on its own blockchain network using the proof-of-stake (PoS) consensus algorithm and features a native token known as WAVES. WAVES tokens are used for standard operations such as token creation, transactions, and running smart contracts. One of the unique features of the Waves platform is the Waves-NG protocol, which increases the speed of transactions and the overall scalability of the blockchain.
Waves also offers a decentralized exchange (DEX) where users can trade newly created tokens directly on the platform, without the need for an intermediary. The DEX provides fast and secure trading with near real-time order matching and blockchain settlement.
