NEAR Protocol community is collaborating on a large-scale tokenomics upgrade to strengthen long-term growth and incentive alignment. Building on five years of mainnet success, NEAR aims to reduce annual token inflation, support smaller validators, and improve governance participation.

The proposal includes three key components:

Halving Upgrade – reducing NEAR’s annual inflation to 2.5%.

HSP-002 – supporting smaller validators to promote decentralization.

HSP-003 – increasing rewards for veNEAR holders to encourage early governance activity.
