OpenVPP Launches the Open Energy Alliance
OpenVPP has introduced the Open Energy Alliance (OEA) — a collaborative initiative uniting power and utility providers with smart energy manufacturers to accelerate the adoption of distributed energy systems.
The OEA aims to establish an open, interoperable ecosystem that connects key asset classes such as solar and energy storage systems (ESS), electric vehicles (EVs), and HVAC systems. Through the OEA framework, these devices communicate via a shared digital layer within Open Virtual Power Plants (OVPPs), enabling coordinated control, load balancing, and energy dispatch.
By enhancing interoperability, the alliance transforms millions of distributed devices into flexible, dynamic grid resources capable of responding to demand and renewable energy conditions.
