Pakistan’s FIA Sets Up Cryptocurrency Investigation Unit
Pakistan’s Federal Investigation Agency has established a cryptocurrency investigation unit within its newly operational National Command and Control Centre. According to Dawn, the unit is intended to investigate the use of digital assets in crimes, including money laundering and terrorism financing through virtual currency transactions. FIA Counter-Terrorism Wing Director Muhammad Athar Waheed said Pakistan’s Virtual Assets Regulatory Authority remains responsible for regulating digital assets, while the new unit will focus on criminal investigations.
