TRON Undergoes Major Upgrade on July 11th
TRON has announced the release of the GreatVoyage-v4.7.2 (Periander) version, marking it as a mandatory upgrade. All users are requested to update to this new version prior to 23:59, July 11th, 2023 (SGT).
The Periander version introduces a number of vital optimizations and updates, including two governance proposals aimed at refining Stake 2.0. This enhancement significantly boosts the flexibility of the TRON stake mechanism. The version also brings a governance proposal for the implementation of EIP-3855 PUSH0 Instruction. The incorporation of this feature not only guarantees compatibility between TRON and Ethereum at the level of the virtual machine, but it also decreases the costs associated with utilizing TRON smart contracts.
Furthermore, the Periander version includes more user-friendly smart contract interfaces, thereby enhancing the convenience of smart contract development. Additionally, the P2P network module of TRON has undergone a comprehensive upgrade to support the IPV6 protocol, node discovery through DNS, message compression, and other features. This substantial improvement advances the performance of TRON's network infrastructure considerably.
What is a hardfork?
The cryptocurrency mainnet operates according to certain rules. To improve network performance or correct errors, changes are periodically introduced into it. A hard fork represents changes that are not compatible with previous versions of software supporting the cryptocurrency network. In order to continue to mine the cryptocurrency, miners need to update the software.
In some cases, as a result of a hard fork, a completely new cryptocurrency may appear, as happened with Bitcoin Cash and EthereumPoW.
