Github link: https://github.com/vitelabs/go-vite/releases/tag/v2.9.0
Hard fork block height: 31305900
Hard fork time: 4:00 AM May 27, 2020 (UTC+0)
The hard fork will include the following updates:
- Enhanced ViteX order placing/canceling. In the previous version, authorized delegate can only cancel orders placed by delegate account. Order placed by the user cannot be cancelled via ViteX API. After the hardfork, both sort of orders can be cancelled through ViteX API.
- Merge request queue of order placing and order canceling into one single queue to improve consistency and robustness.
- Improve order placement through ViteX API by adding aggregate interface to reduce the number of interface called and latency.
All full nodes and SBPs are required to upgrade on time!
What is a hardfork?
The cryptocurrency mainnet operates according to certain rules. To improve network performance or correct errors, changes are periodically introduced into it. A hard fork represents changes that are not compatible with previous versions of software supporting the cryptocurrency network. In order to continue to mine the cryptocurrency, miners need to update the software.
In some cases, as a result of a hard fork, a completely new cryptocurrency may appear, as happened with Bitcoin Cash and EthereumPoW.
