About the Collection
First Impressions marks a series of artistic “firsts” for mendezmendez: the first body of work inspired by the Impressionist movement, the first fully animated series, and the first large collection release.
Reimagining the late 1800s through the lens of modern digital art, the series draws on both the era’s creative spirit and its technological breakthroughs. It brings together the motion studies of Eadweard Muybridge and the luminous color explorations of neo-Impressionists like Signac and Seurat, uniting them in the same frame for the first time. Depicting intentionally ordinary scenes, First Impressions echoes the Impressionists’ quiet rebellion against grand academic subjects, translating fleeting, light-filled moments into a fresh digital vocabulary of motion, music, and image.
