Spacemesh to Launch Athena Devnet
Spacemesh has announced the public opening of the Athena Devnet, an innovative Proof of Concept designed to test the integration of Athena as a replacement for the genesis VM on Layer 1.
The devnet features both singlesig and multisig wallets, with singlesig being built-in and linked to a hardcoded address, while multisig wallets operate via deployment based on binary code hashes. Importantly, the new “deploy” functionality enables users to launch smart contracts directly on the blockchain.

This devnet represents an innovative Proof of Concept integration in go-spacemesh, featuring Athena (on L1) as a replacement for the genesis VM. While this marks an exciting milestone, please note that we're still working diligently to prepare Athena for integration into the main network.
There are singlesig and multisig wallets available. The former is built-in and has a hardcoded address. The latter one is deployed (using the singlesig wallet) and has address based on the hash of the code (binary). The keyword deploy is important - it's the feature that allows users deploy new smart contracts onto the blockchain.
